IDRA is the artist name of Francesca Pavesi, a Milan-based musician, composer, and sound artist whose work spans ambient and experimental electronic music, soundscapes, and sound design. With a classical background and a diploma in classical trumpet, she later expanded her practice into electronic composition and music technology, earning a Master's degree in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation from Berklee College of Music.

Her work treats listening as a physical, spatial, and perceptual act combining analog and modular synthesis with acoustic instrumentation, field recordings, and processed sound sources, she constructs immersive sonic environments in which electronic and organic materials coexist and continuously transform. Compositions unfold through gradual shifts in texture, density, resonance, and spatial depth, favoring open forms and extended temporalities over conventional narrative structure. Improvisation and deep listening are central to her process, allowing each piece to evolve through gesture, time, and the acoustic character of its environment, probing the relationship between timbre, spatiality, and perception, and framing listening itself as an active mode of attention and presence.

Alongside this artistic practice, IDRA is currently pursuing studies in Music Therapy at the Milan Conservatory, extending her research into the scientific and neuroscientific dimensions of auditory perception and the interaction between sound, brain, and body. This interdisciplinary grounding brings her artistic experimentation into direct dialogue with research on attention, embodied experience, and the mechanisms of listening.

She collaborates with a range of studios to create functional music designed to support individuals on their path toward comprehensive wellbeing, spanning mental, emotional, and physical health. This work is driven by a commitment to soundscapes that promote balance, relaxation, and healing.

IDRA has performed at Inner Spaces (Auditorium San Fedele, Milan), Torso Electronics (Copenhagen), and Madame Claude (Berlin), among other platforms for experimental and electronic music. Her practice extends to collaborations with international organizations on the development of instruments and technologies for music creation, as well as work in film scoring and sound design.
